FINALIST BLOG: AYA 02/01/2010
This morning it was off to meet Stu and Suzanne at a little café to go over casting. I was told that Stu would know what I looked like, however turned out that we sat next to each other for a good 15 minutes before we connected!
We have cast the part of James with a great actor named Luke Hawker. The funny thing is Luke and I have been friends since we were 13! As for Granny, we have someone that we would like but Nanna is proving to be difficult (much like her character!).

Luke Hawker, cast as Jimmy in 'Sweet As'
It would seem I can either get a seasoned actress, or someone with no acting experience but the looks – agh! I think if push comes to shove, it would be wiser to go with experience but we shall see …
After the meeting I was told that the Tamaki Hikoi trip was cancelled due to rain (boo!). Instead I spend those precious hours at the hotel researching the actors that had been mentioned in the meeting.

About to arrive in Queenstown!
Finally, it was over to Queenstown where my production manager Garry met me! We hit it off from the start so I feel really comfortable having him on my team! I was then introduced to everyone in the office before grabbing a drink with the mysterious YBB Critic.
I am now back in my room working. My day starts at 8:30am tomorrow and I want to have everything in order!
Aya

Enjoy it, Aya. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
This really is a dream coming true for you Aya. Finally all your years and years of persitence, hard work and constantly maintaining an unwavering eye on your goal are coming together. You are truly amazing. I am so excited for you. MISPAH.
We have faith in you Aya
just enjoy the experience and have fun
Hi guys!
Thanks so much for the comments! I greatly appreciate the support and advice
PS
Please say G’day to Luke for me. Who would have thought this possible. What a small planet we all inhabit.
I can definitely see how Luke could play Jimmy just from your animatic sketch. So I’d say, from looks alone, fantastic casting!
PS – Kudo points for the Macbook in the foreground.
